MA1121 ASSINGMENT 01- DR MOVIE Co., Ltd

            DR MOVIE Co., Ltd.  – A South Korean Animation Studio founded November 1990. As a small animkation studio and as the years went by the began to establish othe departments to expand the types of work they did. Their Headquarters are located in Seoul, Korea and they have offices in Los Angeles and Tokyo, Japan. The Studio mainly specializes in In-Between Animations, Ink and Paint and CG Animations. They entered into a partnership with MAD HOUSE, Japanese animation studio. . Their very first project was making the In-Betweens for Alexander (an anime) by MAD HOUSE in 98’-99’. From 1990 to 2000 the company grew over those years by launching different animation departments: Key Animation Department, Camera Department, Composition Department, and “DR MOI” was established as a production studio for overseas work. In 92’ they launched “Busan DR” a production facility, becoming the largest coloring company in Korea.

            DR Movie Animation mostly does overseas work with Japanese Studios and American Studios. Their most notable work with American animation studios are:  1. Avatar: The Last Air Bender (Nickelodeon),  2.  The Batman (WB - Animated Series),  3. Justice League and Justice League:Unlimited.

The most notable works with Japanese animation studios are; 1. Batman: Gotham Knight (six-short animated films) DR MOVIE worked on In-Between Animation, Ink & Paint, 2. Bleach (Background Animation) 3. Code Geass (In-Between Animation, Key Animation, 2nd Key Animation, Clean-Up Animation)  4. Cowboy Bebop (Paint) 5. Death Note (Background Art, Clean-Up Animation, In-Between Animation) along with other great works. DR Movie animation studio has been successful in completing many highly demanding works which helped them acumalate special technical skills and has explored the many sides to animation production. As a result DR Movie has grown in a prestigious animation studio and is the only Korean studio to have work with Studio Ghibli on” Spirited Away”

            DR Movie hires Character and Scenery designers, Animators, Storyboarders, people who specialize in 2D/ 3D. They 5 major Production Departments – 1. Production Management Team  2.Translation Team  3.Key Animation 4.In-Between Animation  5.Digital  6. Scenery
